What Is a CLT?
Local organisations , often run by local people, set up to develop genuinely affordable homes based on what local people earn.
The houses remain affordable in perpetuity, which means forever.
There is a covenant that stipulates that the houses must be sold at the same affordable rate they were bought for.
What have I been doing about it then?
For over a year I have been working with the Redbridge CLT group, led by citizens UK. In 2015 the group achieved a promise from council leader Jas Athwal to deliver 250 CLT homes in the borough, it is our job to make sure they deliver on this promise.
If you want change you need power, and this power analysis tool is a helpful first step in forming a strategy to increase power for the CLT group.
The table essentially makes visible the power structures that exist around our capacity to push forward CLT homes in the borough.

Every action the group take is designed to either move individuals up ( to increase their power ) or left ( to convince them to get behind our cause).

My project aims to house homeless individuals within the CLT housing model, something that has never been done before.
